How AI is changing e-commerce

Practical examples of AI in product content, search and personalisation for online stores.

Smaller e-commerce markets long played catch-up with the big ones. With the arrival of generative AI, however, the cards are being reshuffled — a small store can now produce content at a quality and volume that until recently were the preserve of large players.

The most visible change is in product content. Descriptions that a copywriter once wrote for days now appear in dozens of variants — and can be optimised for SEO and conversion at the same time.

The second area is the visuals. AI-generated product and lifestyle photos cut the cost of shoots, modelling and logistics. Seasonal campaigns can be prepared in hours.

The third area is personalisation and search. AI helps better understand customer intent and offer more relevant results — which translates directly into conversion.

The common denominator is that AI does not replace business judgement. It replaces the routine. The decision of what to sell and to whom still belongs to the person who knows their market.
